Sprouting from this original venture, Sundial Virtual Family Office was formally launched in 2018. Stephen M. Smith
Founder & Principal
Originally from Albany, NY, Stephen graduated cum laude from State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo in 1999. He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City where he worked closely with hedge funds, broker-dealers, private equity firms, and banking clients. He then served as controller of a manufacturing company in New Jersey.
In 2007, Stephen began offering QuickBooks© and Quicken© consulting services and is now a renowned Quicken© expert. He is also a holder of all QuickBooks© certifications and a 6 time recipient of the prestigious Top 100 Pro Advisor award. Over the last decade, Smith has helped many families and individuals with personal bookkeeping services – reconciling over $15 billion in personal net worth. Stephen is a frequent contractor to family offices looking to optimize their internal operations and technology. Over the years, he has advised over 500 diverse companies, many experiencing double-digit growth into the tens of millions in revenue.
Married with two children, Stephen is highly motivated, energetic, and possesses strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills. When he’s not helping other families achieve their financial goals, he enjoys skiing, snowboarding, coaching, traveling, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Originally from Vernon, NJ, Jon graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA with an Accounting degree and diploma in Business Administration. His career started at GenSpring Family Offices in New York City where he was a Family Service Coordinator working alongside ultra-high-net-worth clients ($250m – $1billion). Jon is tasked with bookkeeping and transaction coding, as well as researching new software functionality.
Jon is also a professional firefighter in Maplewood, New Jersey. He enjoys deep sea fishing, snow-mobiling, snowboarding and living on a lake.
